College Avenue, Oakland

I personally think that one of the best blocks of all College Avenue, Oakland, is its last – the 6300 block, especially the west side.  Teaming with a beautiful produce market, meat market, fish market, amazing bakery, Wood Tavern, and Southies, their bbq shop next door, you can’t go wrong on this street.  There’s a giant Safeway being renovated at the southeast corner, making traffic and parking difficult these days.  Trappist Provisions looks like a good bar, and there’s also Mitama for Japanese and Taste of India.  You just can’t go wrong on this block, and I’m sure the neighboring blocks will add yet more to the food scene that is North Oakland and South Berkeley.  It so reminds me of the perfect block in Paris where you may pay a bit more, but you get a lot more in terms of service and quality.  Here are a few of my favorite spots in a picture gallery below.
